Homemade Taco Seasoning

Updated: Feb 20, 2022

If the pandemic had taught me anything, it’s that, not everything will be available at all times and it may not always be possible to pick it up whenever you want to. So since it started, I’ve been trying to come up with helpful tips, tricks and recipes for even the simple things like spice mixes and marinades. So that you don’t feel like you are missing out on anything.

Today’s new addition is Homemade Taco Seasoning. We all make tacos from time to time and trust me, this spice mix is even better than what you can find at the shops. So let’s open up those kitchen cupboards and mix up our own batch.

Store it in an airtight container or in a glass jar until ready to use it. I usually whip up a triple batch of this, so that I don’t have to mix it up every other week. But it is definitely a keeper.

Preparation Time 5 minutes

Ingredients

1 tablespoon chilli powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon paperila

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon oregano

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

A pinch of red chilli flakes

Instructions

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Mix well and then pour it in an airtight container or a glass jar.

  2. For 1 lb/ 500 grams of meat, you will need 1/2 a large onion and 3 tablespoons of this taco seasoning. I use this for making beef enchiladas all the time.
