I used this homemade pita bread recipe to make the Arayes recipe I posted a week ago! I was going to upload it at the same time but for some reason I didn’t. I really do regret that now, because everyone wants to make the Arayes with the homemade pita bread recipe.Â
I love how this bread puffs up and becomes so soft and delicious. Perfect for dunking in hummus or filling with meat for Arayes. See the recipe here!Â
Preparation Time 15 minutesÂ
Proof Time 3 hoursÂ
Cook Time 15 minutesÂ
Yield 10 pita breadÂ
IngredientsÂ
2 cups flour + 1/2 cup for dustingÂ
1/2 cup whole wheat flourÂ
1 tablespoon sugarÂ
1 teaspoon saltÂ
1 tablespoon olive oilÂ
2 teaspoon instant yeastÂ
1 cup warm waterÂ
InstructionsÂ
Combine warm water, yeast and sugar. Leave it rise for 10 minutesÂ
In another bowl, combine the flour, salt and olive oil. Slowly add the yeast mixture.Â
Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth.Â
Transfer to a lightly greased bowl. Cover and proof for 2 hours.Â
Deflate the gas in the dough. Divide the dough in 10 pieces. Roll into balls.Â
Place on a lined tray. Cover and proof 10 minutes.Â
To make the pita, roll the dough ball into a 7 inch circle and cook on a hot skillet until they puff up and cooked on both sides.Â
