For me, peaches signal the beginning of the summer season and you know what that means, lots and lots of delicious summer desserts. I just love biting into a succulent and juicy peach. The juices running down my chin and arms. Yes, I am a messy peach eater, which is why I prefer to make them into a dessert. To maybe save myself from some embarrassment of the mess of a peach.
My mum used to eat peaches and sprinkle some salt onto them. I prefer to eat them that way too now. The salt just brings out more flavour. I didn't think it would. But it does. You gotta try it.
For this recipe, I left the skins on and chopped the peaches up as is. It honestly made removing the pits easier. My friend has peach trees at her farm and bought me a bowl of peaches and I didn't know what to do with them. So I decided to turn them into a crumble with a crispy, oat topping.
