So many of us are still not eating at Mc Donald’s and to be honest, I prefer making burgers at home. Everyone gets to decide what they want on their burger and how much. No extra charges and I feel the kids have eaten properly. These Mc Donald’s copycat beef Big Macs were devoured in minutes and the kids wanted me to make them again the following day! So I would classify that as perfection!
I also made the chicken version. Make sure you don’t miss out of that recipe too!
Preparation Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Serves 4
Ingredients
Big Mac Sauce
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons yellow mustard
2 tablespoons chopped pickles
1 teaspoon vinegar
2 tablespoons chopped onion
Salt and pepper- to taste
Beef Patties
1 kg beef mince- 80/20 ratio for meat to fat
Salt- to taste
Black pepper- to taste
1-2 tablespoons oil
8 slices cheese
8 hamburger buns- plus 4 extra bottom buns for the additional layer
1/4 cup butter- softened
1 onion- diced
1 pickle- diced
Shredded lettuce
Instructions
Combine all the ingredients for the big mac sauce. Mix well and set aside until you are ready to assemble the burgers.
Divide the mince into 8 portions. Shape them into thin patties. Keep the patties thin as they will shrink while cooking.
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large pan. Place 3-4 beef patties in the pan. Season with salt and pepper. Cook them on a high heat for 2-3 minutes. Flip them over and cook the other side 1 minute. Top with cheese, turn off the stove and cover the pan with a lid, allowing the cheese to melt.
Spread the butter on the buns. Toast them on a low heat until golden. Take them off the stove and arrange them on a wooden board.
Spread the Big Mac sauce over the bottom buns. Top with shredded lettuce, then the beef patties, chopped onion and the chopped pickles.
Assemble the burgers. Serve the burgers with additional sauce and fries.
