I love chocolate cake as much as the next person, but sometimes I might be busy or haven’t had a good day, and I don’t want to be standing in the kitchen for ages making a cake just for myself. That’s like a pity party.
This frying pan chocolate cake takes only 10 minutes, no need to preheat the oven or even to take out the mixer. All you need is a stick, spatula, weighing scale and frying pan!
Preparation Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10-15 minutes
Serves 4
Ingredients
40 grams/ 1/4 cup all purpose flour- sifted
25 grams / 3 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
70 grams/ 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
30 grams butter
1 egg
60 ml chocolate milk/ cold coffee
Frosting: chocolate ganache. See recipe here!
Instructions
Melt the butter in a heavy bottom frying pan. Once the butter is melted, take it off the stove and put it on a weighing scale. Use a heat protecting mat if the pan is too hot.
Add the cocoa powder and whisk it in. This helps the cocoa powder bloom. Whisk until smooth.
Add the sugar and egg. Whisk well.
Add the flour, baking soda and milk. Mix with whisk until smooth. Use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the pan and the sides of the frying pan. Mix it through once more.
Place the pan on the stove. Cover with a lid and cook on a low flame for 10-15 minutes until an inserted toothpick/ cocktail stick come out with just a couple crumbs on it. The bubbles on the top are just from condensation.
Cover the pan again and remove from the heat. Allow to cool to room temperature.
Once cooled, poke holes in the cake.
Pour over the chocolate milk/ coffee.
Cover with chocolate ganache or even Nutella. Serve with ice cream
