Learn how to make perfect crispy hash browns at home. They don't take long to make and the kids will go crazy for them!
Ingredients
4 large potatoes
2 teaspoon salt- divided
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
4 Tablespoons rice flour
4 tablespoons corn starch
Instructions
Peel and grate the potatoes. Soak them in cold water
Wash the potatoes through twice with cold water until the water is no longer cloudy.
Drain the potatoes and transfer to a pot. Cover with water. Add 1 teaspoon salt
Bring to boil on a medium heat.
Remove from the heat once the water is cloudy and foamy on top.
Drain the water from the potties and cool them in cold water.
Spread the potatoes out onto a cloth/ kitchen towel. Dry them out as much as possible. Squeeze out all the extra water.
Place the potatoes in a bowl. Add 1 teaspoon salt, paprika, garlic powder, 2 tablespoons rice flour and 2 tablespoons corn starch.
Mix well with your hands.
Add the remaining 2 Tablespoons rice flour and 2 tablespoons corn starch. Bring this mixture together.
Place the mixture between a sheet of plastic. Fold over and roll to 1 cm thickness.
Cut into circles. Chill for 3 hours in the freezer or even overnight.
Deep fry these hash browns at 180c for 4-5 minutes until golden.
