Hot Milk Cake

Sometimes we just need a fluffy cake. Sometimes we need to just eat a fluffy cake all by ourselves, and this hot milk cake is the cake you are looking for. Such a light, fluffy cake recipe is a crime to gate- keep. This recipe is perfect for beginners or those who are looking to just dip their toes in the baking world. 


Hot Milk Cake

Preparation Time 15 minutes 

Cook Time 30 minutes 

Serves 12 


Ingredients 


1 cup/ 240 ml milk 

1/2 cup/ 113 grams butter

2 cups/ 240 grams flour 

2 teaspoon baking powder 

1/2 teaspoon salt 

2 cups/ 400 grams sugar 

4 eggs 

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 


Icing sugar- for dusting 




Instructions 


  1. Preheat the oven to 170c. Line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper. Set it aside. 

  2. Combine the milk and butter in a saucepan. Cook until bubbling. The butter should melt. This should take around 5 minutes. Cool the milk for 5 minutes before using it. 

  3. Whisk the flour, salt and baking powder in a large bowl and set it aside. 

  4. Beat the sugar and eggs on a medium sped for 4-5 minutes until fluffy and doubled in volume. Sift the dry ingredients into the eggs and slowly add the milk mixture and vanilla to the bowl.

  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Bake the cake at 180c for 28-32 minutes. 

  6. Remove the cake from the oven and cool it completely. Dust the cake with icing sugar before serving.
