Halloumi Fries

If you guys have been tuning in for while now, you will know by now, that I love my cheese. And not just love, I crave cheese. And chocolate. So when I was craving something this afternoon, I didn’t have much in the fridge. Time to go grocery shopping, that reminds me. I had a block of halloumi cheese and some bread, some sour cream. Pretty sparse haha. So I wanted to come up with a quick and yummy snack with whatever I had in the fridge. Then I thought, if I’m using the halloumi then it’s better to make something new… and Halloumi fries were born!

Sweet chilli mayonnaise dip

1/3 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup Thai sweet chilli sauce

1 tablespoon sour cream

Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine the ingredients for the seasoned flour: the flour, paprika, oregano, cayenne, garlic powder and onion powder in a bowl. Mix well.

  2. Cut the cheese lengthwise into 1/2 inch thick fries. You can even try making them into bite sized pieces. Pat them dry between a couple sheets of kitchen paper. Set them aside

  3. Dredge the halloumi fries in the seasoned flour.

  4. Place 4-5 pieces of the halloumi in a pan with a few tablespoons of oil. Only place 4-5 pieces in the oil at once to avoid overcrowding.

  5. Fry them in some oil on a medium heat for 2-3 minutes until golden on all sides.

  6. For the sweet chilli mayonnaise dip: Combine the ingredients to make the sauce. Mix well and serve immediately.
